Mavado Essential Tracks Toronto Needs Tonight

Mavado headlines Scotiabank Arena in Toronto tonight, Thursday, November 5, 2026, his first performance in the city in nine years and his first ever arena headline show here. Before the doors open at 40 Bay Street, these Mavado essential tracks are the catalogue the GTA’s Caribbean community has waited nearly a decade to hear live.

The show, presented by Skip2Fame as Return of the Gully Gad, brings special guests Masicka and Armanii, with Spex Da Boss hosting. Mavado’s last Toronto appearance came in 2017, as a featured act on Alkaline’s New Rules show. Tonight he is the main draw, and the setlist has almost twenty years of records to draw from.

Mavado Essential Tracks: The Foundation Records

“I’m On The Rock” (2008) is where the Gully Gad’s anthem run starts for most international listeners, a record that carried his singjay delivery far beyond Jamaica. “So Special” (2008) followed the same year and became one of the defining dancehall singles of its era, the song that made his name unavoidable on sound systems from Kingston to Toronto.

“Star Bwoy” (2010) kept the run going into the next decade, and “Delilah” (2011) showed the other side of the catalogue, a slower, melodic record that proved Mavado could hold a love song with the same authority as a street anthem. Any Toronto setlist that skips these four is leaving the foundation at home.

The Crossover And The Later Catalogue

“Give It All To Me” (2013), his collaboration with Nicki Minaj, is the catalogue’s clearest crossover moment, pairing Mavado with one of the biggest stars in rap at the height of her chart run. “Progress” (2016) became a later-era staple, the kind of reflective record that anchors the second half of his shows.

Tonight’s guests underline where dancehall sits in 2026. Masicka arrives in Toronto with his album Forever Reign past 71 million streams, as DancehallMag reported this week, and Armanii represents the younger generation on the same stage. The full event details are in the Canadian Yardie guide to tonight’s show.

Why This Night Matters In Toronto

Toronto is home to one of the largest Caribbean diaspora communities in the world, and dancehall has been part of the city’s soundtrack for decades, from community halls and sound systems to Carnival weekend. A dancehall artist headlining the city’s biggest arena for the first time is a statement about that community’s size and loyalty, as DancehallMag noted when the show was announced.

Nine years is a long wait for one of the genre’s most recognizable voices. Tonight, the essential tracks above stop being a playlist and become a room full of people singing them back.
