Privacy Policy
What iimiTV collects, why we collect it, who processes it, and the rights you have over your information.
Effective date: October 24, 2026. Operated by Famous Factory Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Who we are
iimiTV (iimitv.com) is a Canadian entertainment and hip hop publication operated by Famous Factory Inc., based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and the rights you have over it. Questions about this policy or about your information can be sent any time to [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you sign up for the iimiTV Letter, we collect your email address. When you buy a paid submission, we collect your artist name, a link to your music, and your email address. When you enter iimiTV Battles, we collect your artist name, a link to your song or album, your email address, and, if you choose to add them, your city and a photo. When you send us a story tip or an email, we receive whatever you include in that message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers record basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the times of your visits. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how readers use the site: which stories get read, roughly where readers are, and what devices they use. Analytics reports are statistical and are used to improve the site, not to identify individual readers for advertising.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies. One remembers your language choice, English or French, so the site opens in your language on your next visit. Google Analytics sets cookies that help count visits and measure how the site is used. Battles voting uses a cookie that records that a vote has been cast from your browser, so that one person gets one vote. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, although your language choice will not be remembered and analytics counts will not include your visit.
How we use information
We use the information described above to run the site and its programs: publishing and improving our coverage, sending the iimiTV Letter to people who subscribed, reviewing and publishing paid submissions, running Battles and contacting entrants about their entries, answering messages sent to our inboxes, keeping the site secure, and meeting our legal and tax obligations as a Canadian business. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
The iimiTV Letter
Our newsletter, the iimiTV Letter, is double opt-in: after you sign up, we email you a confirmation link, and your address is only added to the list when you click it. Your email address is stored so we can send you the Letter, and delivery is handled for us by Resend, an email delivery service. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future sends. Signups for Battles can include an optional, unchecked box to also join the Letter; entering a battle never subscribes you on its own. Our email practices follow Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL): we email only people who asked to hear from us, and we never sell or rent the list.
Paid submissions and payments
Paid submissions are checked out through Stripe. When you pay, Stripe collects your payment details and processes the payment under its own privacy policy. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us: we never see or store full card numbers on our systems. We receive confirmation of the payment along with the submission details you entered (artist name, music link, and email address), which we use to review and publish your submission and to keep our business records.
Battles entries
Information from a Battles entry (artist name, streaming link, email address, and optional city and photo) is used to review the entry, run the battle, and contact the entrant about it. Every entry is reviewed by a person on our team. Details that are part of the public contest, such as the artist name and the entered song or album, appear on the public battle pages; your email address is never published.
Who processes information for us
A small number of service providers process information on our behalf, only so the site and its programs can run: Google (website analytics through Google Analytics 4), Stripe (payment processing for paid submissions), Resend (newsletter and confirmation email delivery), and Vercel (website hosting). Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy and security practices. Beyond these providers, we share personal information only when the law requires it, for example under a valid court order.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Submission and Battles records are kept as program and business records, including for tax purposes. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations, then deleted or overwritten in the normal course. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, and to ask us to delete it, subject to records we must keep by law. To make a request, write to [email protected] and we will respond as PIPEDA requires, normally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
iimiTV is a general-audience music publication and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for a site of our size, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and established providers for payments and email. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the information in our care and to limit what we collect in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and set a new effective date at the top. The version published here is the current one.
