Submissions for the 2027 JUNO Awards close tonight, November 5, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Eastern artists get a small grace window in the fine print: the same deadline reads 2:59 a.m. ET on November 6.
The window opened September 21, 2026 with submissions presented by TD, and it covers work released in the eligibility period from September 1, 2025 to November 6, 2026. Anything released to a recognized national streaming provider inside those dates can be put forward, and projects available for pre-order by November 6 qualify if they are delivered to listeners by November 13.

2027 JUNO Awards Submissions End Tonight
The full criteria, category descriptions and submission portal are published by CARAS at junoawards.ca. Artists must meet the Canadian criteria CARAS applies across every category, and physical copies for Album Artwork of the Year have their own delivery deadline of November 6 at 5 p.m. ET at the CARAS office.
Canadian music never stands still. New sounds emerge, genres evolve and the ways artists create, collaborate and release their work continue to change.
That line from the CARAS announcement is the reason this year’s submission round matters beyond the deadline itself. The 2027 awards arrive with rebuilt categories, and the artists submitting tonight are the first class judged under the new structure.
Rap Categories Rebuilt For 2027
The biggest change lands in rap. As CARAS set out in its 2027 category announcement, Melodic Rap Recording of the Year and Rap Recording of the Year replace Rap Album/EP of the Year and Rap Single of the Year. For Canadian hip hop, that splits the field honestly: melodic rap gets its own lane instead of competing against straight rap records for one trophy.
The restructuring runs wider. Electronic and Dance splits into Electronic/Dance Single of the Year and Electronic/Dance Album/EP of the Year. Reggae Recording of the Year becomes Reggae/Dancehall Recording of the Year. Contemporary Christian/Gospel Recording of the Year replaces the album-only category, with singles, EPs and albums all eligible. Recording categories across the board now accept singles, EPs and albums, with singles required to be standalone releases, and Beatport joins the list of eligible streaming platforms.
Winnipeg Hosts The 56th JUNOs
The 56th Annual JUNO Awards broadcast live on CBC from Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Sunday, April 4, 2027, with JUNO Week running April 1 to 4. For every Canadian artist with a record in the eligibility window, the road to that stage closes tonight. Submissions must be completed online before 11:59 p.m. PT, and submission fees must be received by the deadline.
