Drake Marks Four Years Of Her Loss

By No Excuse
Share

The Her Loss album arrived on November 4, 2022, which makes today, November 4, 2026, exactly four years since Drake and 21 Savage released their joint album. Sixteen tracks, one guest appearance, and a number one debut later, it remains the defining document of their partnership.

The album was announced on October 22, 2022, and then delayed by a week before landing on the Friday it did. It was released through OVO Sound, Republic Records, Slaughter Gang Entertainment and Epic Records, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

A Joint Album With One Guest

The most striking structural choice on Her Loss is still its cast list. Across sixteen tracks, the only featured artist is Travis Scott, on Pussy and Millions. Everything else is Drake and 21 Savage trading space: Rich Flex up front as the tone-setter, Major Distribution and Spin Bout U in the middle stretch, Circo Loco closing the album’s second half. Two rappers, no ensemble, nowhere to hide.

That focus is why the record plays like a partnership rather than a compilation. 21 Savage’s deadpan and Drake’s melodic instincts were already proven chemistry on earlier collaborations, and Her Loss gave that chemistry a full album to run.

The Her Loss Album In Drake’s 2022

Context matters for this one. Drake had already released Honestly, Nevermind in June 2022, a dance-leaning left turn that split his audience. Her Loss, five months later, was the rap record that half of his listeners had been asking for, and its number one debut confirmed the demand was real.

For 21 Savage, the album extended a run that had already made him one of the most bankable collaborators in rap. A joint album with Drake, carrying half the billing and half the verses, put that status in writing.

Four Years On

Joint albums usually age as curiosities. Her Loss aged as a reference point: Rich Flex became a durable streaming staple, the album’s rollout became a template for surprise-scale joint releases, and the Drake and 21 Savage pairing stayed in the conversation every time either artist announced something new.

Four years is not a round, golden anniversary, and this piece does not pretend otherwise. It is simply the honest marker: on this day in 2022, two of rap’s biggest names released the album that defined them as a duo. The Her Loss album still holds that title.
