Connor Price Spin The Globe Revisited

Connor Price released the Spin the Globe EP on January 27, 2023, through his own 4 of Clubs LLC, the project that turned a Toronto rapper and former child actor into one of the most streamed independent artists in Canada. This is a catalogue project, framed as catalogue: nothing here is new, and the Connor Price Spin the Globe record still stands as the cleanest case study in the catalogue of a format becoming a career, seven collaborations chosen by a spinning globe, converted into gold singles and a global audience.

The premise was simple enough to explain in one sentence, which is exactly why it travelled. Price would spin a globe, put his finger down on a country, and find an artist from that country to collaborate with on a song. The series launched on October 7, 2022, went viral through that fall, and the finished EP collected the run: one Toronto artist, seven partners on four continents, and a tracklist sequenced like the map it came from.

Connor Price Spin The Globe Starts With Violet

The series began with a song that almost belonged to someone else. “Violet” had gone unused for the film Fast X, and the idea of building a series around it came from Price’s wife, Breanna Price. He asked Zambian rapper Killa, from Lusaka, to feature on the song, and “Violet” was released on October 7, 2022 as the first Spin the Globe record. The hook states the whole posture in four lines: feeling so tall he could give a high five to the pilot, family kept tight in a small circle, an inbox filling with contracts, and blue faces blowing up like Violet, a wordplay chain that made the record quotable in fifteen-second clips.

The Netherlands stop produced the project’s biggest song. “Spinnin,” with Dutch artist Bens, is built on the same work ethic the series itself ran on, the two of them trading verses about defying odds and refusing pit stops, and it became Price’s most streamed song, passing 140 million streams on its own. The official video above, shot as a two-hander between the collaborators, is the visual document of the format working exactly as designed: two artists who had never shared a scene, sharing a record that out-travelled both of their solo catalogues.

Seven Countries, One EP

The full circuit filled out through the fall of 2022 and into January 2023. India’s SIRI carried “Chuck Taylor,” Japanese-American rapper Kazuo took “DIP,” South Africa’s K.Keed, from Cape Town, took “Blue Shell,” and Germany’s Zensery closed the solo stops with “Drop.” The EP then gathered every voice at once on “Globe Cypher,” Killa, Bens, SIRI, Kazuo, K.Keed, Lucca DL and Zensery on one track, the format’s thesis stated as a posse cut: the globe was not a gimmick applied to the songs, it was the tracklist.

The sequencing is why the EP holds together as a project rather than a playlist of stunts. Each stop keeps the guest’s own style intact, SIRI’s rapid-fire delivery, K.Keed’s sharp Cape Town cadence, Bens riding the beat in his own register, while Price plays the constant, the host whose flow adapts room to room. Independent Canadian rap had produced viral singles before; what it had not produced was a seven-country collaboration EP, built without a major label, that charted like one.

The Receipts Behind The Format

The numbers arrived quickly and kept their shape. The EP debuted at No. 7 on the Spotify Global Top Albums Chart, in the company of Sam Smith and Lil Yachty releases that week. “Violet” and “Spinnin” are both certified Gold in Canada, and by April 2025 the project had passed 480 million streams on Spotify alone. At the 2024 Juno Awards, the run converted into nominations across three categories: Breakthrough Artist of the Year for Price, Rap Album/EP of the Year for the EP, and Rap Single of the Year for “Spinnin.”

The live receipts matched. After the EP, Price played a sold-out debut show at History in Toronto on October 30, 2023, the hometown room confirming what the streaming map had been saying for a year. Speaking later about taking the format on tour, he framed the whole arc in one line:

“I’ve spent years connecting with fans online. Now I finally get to meet them in person and perform these songs live, starting with the countries that helped build this movement from the start.”

What The Globe Built

The format did not stay a one-off. Spin the Globe 2 followed on February 23, 2024 with returning and new collaborators, and the method scaled all the way to a full studio debut on About Time in 2025. Read from here, the first EP is the foundation document: a wife’s suggestion, a song a film did not use, a globe, and seven artists who answered. Released January 27, 2023, Spin the Globe remains the record that explains Connor Price, the Toronto independent who turned a spinning globe into a map of his whole career.
