Coi Leray Taps Lucky Daye For Milk N Cookies

By No Excuse

Coi Leray released her new single “Milk N Cookies” featuring Lucky Daye on October 29, a holiday-season record issued as part of Epic Records’ Holiday Radio series. The pairing puts one of rap’s most restless stylists beside one of R&B’s smoothest voices, and it lands in the middle of a busy autumn for both artists.

The Coi Leray Milk N Cookies release is a deliberate change of pace. Leray built her name on high-energy, genre-hopping singles, while Daye has spent 2026 consolidating a new album era. A seasonal single gives both of them a low-pressure, high-visibility record at the exact moment holiday playlists start filling up, and Epic gets a marquee pairing to anchor its holiday series.

Coi Leray Milk N Cookies pairs two opposite energies

On paper, the collaboration is a study in contrast. Leray, born in Boston and raised in New Jersey, broke through with a melodic, sung-rap style that treats every beat like a playground. Daye is a craftsman in the classic sense, a singer who weighs every syllable. Holiday records reward exactly that kind of contrast: one voice brings the spark, the other brings the warmth, and the song gets to live in Christmas-party rotation without either artist bending their identity out of shape.

The single also continues a deliberate collaboration strategy for Leray. In March she teamed with YoungBoy Never Broke Again on the mosh-pit-ready “Better Than Yours,” and in September she released “Nothing Into Something” with Diplo, a song and video issued through Epic Records. Each pairing has placed her in a different room: street rap, electronic pop, and now contemporary R&B. Few artists her age move across that many lanes in a single year without the moves reading as random.

A catalogue built on refusing one lane

Leray’s catalogue explains why the strategy works. She first bubbled with “G.A.N.” and “Pac Girl” in 2017, both landing on her 2018 mixtape Everythingcoz. “No More Parties” took her to number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021, and “Blick Blick” with Nicki Minaj carried her into her official studio debut, Trendsetter, in 2022. Her sample-heavy second album COI followed in 2023, and the deeply personal EP What Happened to Forever? arrived in 2025. The through line is versatility treated as identity rather than indecision.

That versatility is also why a holiday record is not the novelty detour it might be for another rapper. Leray has always recorded like a pop artist who happens to rap, stacking hooks and switching cadences mid-verse. A seasonal single is simply the pop calendar’s most open door, and she has walked through it with the right guest.

Lucky Daye arrives in full album mode

Daye’s side of the record comes with its own momentum. The multi-Grammy-winning singer launched a new partnership with Warner Records this fall, opening the era with “Nowhere Fast,” produced by longtime collaborator D’Mile. His album ALOUD! followed on October 16 with a 15-song tracklist that includes “Talk To Me,” “Fly U Out” with Leon Thomas, “Mouf Say” with Pusha T and “Knockin” with Muni Long and The Paradox. Dropping a holiday feature two weeks after an album launch keeps his voice in front of listeners who may still be meeting the new record.

“We live in a world that’s constantly telling us to move faster. But sometimes real growth happens when you slow down and move with intention.”

That was Daye on the thinking behind “Nowhere Fast,” and the same patience-first posture makes him a natural fit for a seasonal record, a format that rewards tone and control over volume. Where Leray supplies motion, Daye supplies calm, and the record’s title tells you exactly which side of the holidays it is aimed at: the warm, late-night, kitchen-table side.

Why the holiday lane matters

Holiday singles are a serious business in the streaming era. Seasonal playlists reset every year, which means a good holiday record is not a one-week story but a recurring one, returning each December to catalogues and party mixes. For Leray, “Milk N Cookies” adds a format her catalogue did not have. For Daye, it extends the ALOUD! rollout into the year’s biggest listening season. And for Epic’s Holiday Radio, the pairing delivers the kind of cross-genre headline a label series needs to stand out in a crowded seasonal field.

The record is out now, and its real test starts in December, when holiday listening peaks and the songs that earned their place in October either become traditions or get skipped. On the strength of the pairing alone, this one has given itself a genuine chance.
