Westside Gunn Sets HEELMATIC Release Date

Westside Gunn releases HEELMATIC on Friday, November 13, 2026, through Griselda Records and Mass Appeal. The Westside Gunn HEELMATIC release date, announced on October 22, sets a sixteen track album that the Buffalo rapper recorded across four cities and two continents, led by the single ZILLA and its video shot on location in Egypt.

The date comes with a swerve. For a year, Gunn’s next solo album was supposed to be Flygod Is an Awesome God 3, billed as his final solo record. HEELMATIC takes that slot instead, and the change of plan is the story: a rapper known for curating every detail decided the closing chapter could wait, and made a brand new album in a sprint instead.

Westside Gunn HEELMATIC release date follows a sharp swerve

Announcing the album on October 22, Gunn explained the pivot through Mass Appeal. After watching the label’s Legend Has It series, he scrapped the expected rollout and recorded something new. The sessions ran through Paris, Athens, Berlin and Chicago, with additional recording at the offices of Saucony, the footwear company Gunn has collaborated with as a designer. The result, by his own description, is dusty, soulful and jazz inspired, the grimy end of his sound rather than the glossy one.

A true modern-day masterpiece, from the greatest curator of all time.

That was Gunn’s own verdict on Instagram when he announced the record, and self belief has always been part of the Griselda package. The useful test is the material already public. ZILLA, released the same day as the announcement as his first single with Mass Appeal, is produced by longtime collaborator Denny LaFlare and features Alvin Worthy, and it sounds exactly like the description: loop first, drums dusty, Gunn ad-libbing over the top like a man art directing his own record in real time.

ZILLA and its Egypt video open the HEELMATIC campaign

The visuals carry the campaign, which is why this story sits on the video desk. The ZILLA video was shot in Egypt, and it puts Gunn on a camel in Cairo and in front of the Great Pyramid while he performs the record. The clip premiered on Instagram on August 26, weeks before the song reached streaming and YouTube, a release order that only makes sense in Gunn’s economy: the image comes first, the product follows when he decides it follows.

That approach has defined Griselda’s whole visual language, from the Flygod artwork to the wrestling iconography threaded through this album’s titles. HEELMATIC itself is named like a villain’s finishing move, and the tracklist doubles down. Gunn performs under the Flygod persona, and the heel character, the bad guy the crowd pays to boo, is the organising idea of the entire project.

A tracklist built from wrestling and fashion references

The sixteen song sequence opens with Grant Heel and runs through titles including Blowdysses, ZILLA, Koke Slam, Don Pistola, Tommy Heelfiger, Egyptian Cadillac and Upstate Farms, with Martin 4sese, The Bastard Pac and Bottom Bunk Legends also listed in the reported tracklist. Designer names, wrestling references and Buffalo geography share the same list, which is Gunn’s catalogue in miniature: luxury rap where the luxury is real and the menace never fully leaves the frame.

Guest features and full production credits had not been announced as of the October 22 reveal, an unusual gap this close to release, but a deliberate one. Gunn’s albums tend to surface their features on impact, and with his brother Conway The Machine set to release Otis a week later, on November 20, November becomes a full Griselda month whether or not the two projects cross over.

HEELMATIC closes a three project year for Westside Gunn

The album ends Gunn’s longest recent gap between solo projects, and even that gap is relative. His 2025 produced three releases: the mixtape 12 and the Heels Have Eyes 2 and Heels Have Eyes 3 projects, which built the heel mythology this album cashes in. Before HEELMATIC, the last full solo statement in this line was a year old, an eternity by Gunn’s standards.

The campaign extends past release week. The Heel The World Tour 2 opens on January 30, 2027 in Brussels, with European and United Kingdom dates running through February, including the Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam circuit he recorded the album across. A rapper who made his new album in Europe is taking it back there first, which fits the curator logic of the whole rollout.

HEELMATIC arrives November 13 with everything except its feature list already on the table: sixteen tracks, a lead single with an Egypt shot video, a scrapped retirement plan, and a title that tells you the character Gunn intends to play. Whether it is the masterpiece he promises is a November 13 question. The build, as usual with Westside Gunn, has been executed like one.
