Olivia Rodrigo Returns To Number One

By No Excuse

Olivia Rodrigo is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love returns to the top of the chart dated October 31, 2026. The Olivia Rodrigo Billboard 200 number one run is now three nonconsecutive weeks, powered by 75,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 22, a 15 percent gain that lifted the album from No. 2.

The timing is not an accident, and neither is the company she kept on the way back up. The surge followed the October 15 release of the “expectations” remix featuring Chappell Roan, which arrived with an official video of its own and gave a four month old album a brand new front door. Rodrigo plays the second of two Scotiabank Arena shows in Toronto tonight, October 27, on the Unraveled Tour, which means the chart news and the Canadian stage moment land in the same week.

The Olivia Rodrigo Billboard 200 Run, By The Numbers

The album has not really left the conversation since it arrived. Released on June 12, 2026, Rodrigo’s third album debuted at No. 1 with 485,000 units in its first week, the largest debut week for a solo artist released in 2026, and it topped charts in 17 countries. It spent its first two weeks at No. 1, on the charts dated June 27 and July 4, and Billboard notes it has yet to leave the weekly top five in 19 weeks on the list. This week it also returned to the top of the Top Streaming Albums chart for a fifth week at No. 1.

That kind of durability is the real story under the headline number. Most albums that open with a near half million week spend the following months sliding in orderly fashion. This one has instead behaved like a singles era record with an album’s spine: every new visual, remix, and tour leg has restarted the consumption cycle rather than merely decorating it. A 15 percent gain in week 19, deep into a world tour, is the sort of movement usually reserved for a deluxe edition or a viral accident. Rodrigo engineered hers on purpose.

How The Expectations Remix Restarted The Album

The lever was “expectations.” The remix, released October 15, is Chappell Roan’s first featured appearance on a Rodrigo track, and it reworks the album song with synthesizers, handclaps, and a 1980s shaped arrangement produced by Dan Nigro with Mike Wise. Roan adds a new verse rather than a decorative harmony, and the video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, drops both singers into a retro game show called The Big Expectations Show, hosted by David Byrne as a character named Johnny Johnson, with Nigro appearing as a guest.

Rodrigo described the writing session behind the second verse as a conversation first and a song second:

I was telling you all of the crazy stuff that boys have done to me and you’re like oh my god, like you need to start dating girls, this is crazy.

The pairing had a long runway. Roan opened a SOUR Tour date for Rodrigo in 2022, then joined the GUTS World Tour for a long stretch of shows in 2024, and the remix’s first numbers reflected that shared audience: a No. 4 debut on Spotify’s daily global chart with more than 4.5 million streams on October 16, a No. 1 on the US iTunes Songs chart, and 6.4 million YouTube views for the video in its first 24 hours. A remix that performs like a lead single is, functionally, a second album launch, and the Billboard 200 has now recorded exactly that.

Zach Bryan Debuts Behind Her, Swift Slides

The rest of the top of the chart underlines how strong the hold is. Zach Bryan debuts at No. 2 with Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, an eight song release announced on October 12 and released four days later, with collaborations from Lana Del Rey and Turnpike Troubadours. It is Bryan’s sixth top 10 project and his second release of the year, following the No. 1 debuting With Heaven on Top in January, and a brand new Bryan album in its first week is precisely the kind of challenger that usually takes the top spot by default. It did not.

Further down, Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl moves to No. 5, which completes a striking picture: the chart’s current order is being set less by release week machinery than by which albums keep giving audiences a new reason to return. Bryan arrived with scarcity and surprise. Rodrigo countered with a collaboration, a video, and a tour, and won the week by accumulation instead.

Toronto Gets The Victory Lap Tonight

For Canadian fans, the chart story has a live ending. Rodrigo’s Unraveled Tour plays Scotiabank Arena tonight, the second of two Toronto nights with Wolf Alice opening, and she walks onstage as the holder of the No. 1 album in the United States for a third week. Tours usually borrow momentum from charts; this one has been manufacturing it, city by city, since the summer.

Nineteen weeks in the top five, three weeks at No. 1, and a remix that behaved like a relaunch: you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is no longer having a good run. It is having the defining album campaign of Rodrigo’s career so far, and the Billboard 200 dated October 31 is simply the latest place that fact has been written down.
