Jessie Reyez has released a new single, FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN, teaming with rising rapper Samara Cyn. The track arrived October 9 through FMLY and Island Records, produced by ANMLS, Nevin Sastry and Jermi, and it opens a run of Friday drops Reyez has teased ahead of her fall tour.
The collaboration pairs one of Toronto’s most distinctive voices with one of rap’s most talked about new names. It also gives Reyez a standalone single in play while her fourth studio album, A Little Vengeance, continues its run into the touring season.
Two Voices, One Record
The combination is the story. Reyez brings the pop R and B phrasing and raw, diaristic writing that have defined her records since Kiddo, while Samara Cyn answers with melodic rap, and the two share the track in a way that plays to both strengths. Early coverage of the single highlighted exactly that balance: pop R and B on one side, melodic rap on the other, with neither artist reduced to a feature in the background.
The production team tells its own story about where Reyez is working. ANMLS and Nevin Sastry share production credit with Jermi, mixing comes from DJ Riggins, and both Reyez and Cyn hold composer and lyricist credits. The record was released through her own FMLY imprint under exclusive licence to Island Records, the structure she has used to keep creative control of her catalogue while working inside a major label system.
“Drop somethin for u every friday till tour.” – Jessie Reyez, teasing the release run on social media
A Friday Series Before The Tour
Reyez framed this single as the start of something, not a one off. Her tease promised new music every Friday until the tour begins, which turns October into a rolling release window and gives each song a week of its own spotlight. FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN is the first instalment the public can measure the promise against, and it sets a high bar for whatever follows it in the sequence.
The timing is deliberate. Her A Little Vengeance tour opens November 3 at WAMU Theater in Seattle, runs 13 North American dates through Sacramento, Oakland, San Diego, Inglewood, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Washington and Boston, and closes November 24 at Coca-Cola Coliseum in her hometown of Toronto. A string of Friday singles gives the tour a soundtrack that builds week by week instead of arriving all at once.
The Album Year Behind It
A Little Vengeance, released in June through FMLY and Island, is Reyez’s fourth studio album. It explores heartbreak, relationships, self-reflection and moving forward, with appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Muni Long, D Smoke, Lekan and RAAHiiM, along with a Bob Marley sample. It followed her 2025 project Paid in Memories and its sold out headline world tour.
Her 2026 has kept adding markers. On the same day the album was released, she performed Illuminate with Elyanna at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Toronto. She also launched the Jessie Reyez Fund with nonprofit partner PLUS1, intended to expand opportunities for women and historically underrepresented communities in music, with a portion of proceeds from the new tour benefiting the fund. A standalone single with a rising rapper fits that pattern: platform sharing as part of the release strategy, not an afterthought.
What To Watch Next
The Friday promise means this story is not finished. If Reyez holds the schedule, more singles land before the Seattle opener, and the Toronto finale on November 24 becomes the moment the whole run is performed at home. Samara Cyn, meanwhile, gets a high profile Canadian co-sign at exactly the stage of her career where those placements compound.
There is also a catalogue point worth making. Reyez has built her career on records that treat vulnerability as a strength, from Figures and the Kiddo EP through Yessie and Paid in Memories, and a JUNO Breakthrough Artist win early in that run announced her as a national voice. A playful, confident collaboration like this one shows the other side of the same artist, and long time listeners will hear an ease in it that only comes after several albums of heavier material. Range, delivered casually, is its own kind of statement.
FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN is streaming now on all platforms via FMLY and Island. For Toronto listeners, it is the sound of one of the city’s defining voices warming up for a hometown close to the year, one Friday at a time.
