Jaguars Rout Ravens In Thursday Night Win

The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Baltimore Ravens 33-10 on Thursday night, November 5, at M&T Bank Stadium to open Week 9 of the NFL season. Trevor Lawrence threw for 242 yards and a touchdown, Cam Little kicked four field goals, and Jacksonville forced three turnovers against a Baltimore team starting its third quarterback of the season, as the Associated Press report carried by theScore detailed after the game.

The win lifts Jacksonville to 6-2 and keeps the Jaguars on top of the AFC South. Baltimore falls to 4-5 with a fourth straight defeat, a slide that has turned a 4-1 start into a season that now needs saving.

Lawrence In Control From The Start

Jacksonville set the tone on the opening drive. Lawrence found tight end Nate Boerkircher for a 52 yard gain, Jakobi Meyers added a 16 yard catch, and Bhayshul Tuten finished the seven play, 77 yard drive with a one yard touchdown run. Baltimore answered only with a 53 yard field goal from Jake Moody, his first attempt as a Raven, and the Jaguars led 10-3 after the first quarter.

The decisive strike came just before half time. Lawrence connected with Parker Washington across the middle, and Washington turned a short pass into a 50 yard catch and run touchdown with 58 seconds left in the second quarter. That sent Jacksonville into the break ahead 17-3, a lead built on 242 passing yards from a quarterback who finished 16 of 26 with no interceptions and a 105.0 passer rating.

Washington finished with two catches for 61 yards and that touchdown, while Meyers led the receivers with four catches for 65 yards to keep drives alive. Jacksonville outgained Baltimore 319 yards to 227 on the night, and the margin felt wider than the numbers because the Jaguars dictated field position from the second quarter onward.

A Brutal First Start For Fagnano

Baltimore had no real choice at quarterback. Two time Most Valuable Player Lamar Jackson is out with a right thumb injury, and backup Tyler Huntley is also sidelined, so undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano made his first NFL start in the rain on Thursday night. The game asked too much of him. Fagnano completed 10 of 18 passes for just 60 yards, threw two second half interceptions, and finished with a 22.7 passer rating.

Jacksonville defence owned the second half. Jourdan Lewis intercepted Fagnano deep in Baltimore territory to set up a short Little field goal, Montaric Brown added an interception of his own, and Jalen McLeod recovered a fumble on a kick return. That recovery led directly to Chris Rodriguez Jr. taking a direct snap two yards for a touchdown with 7:26 left, stretching the score to 33-3 before Baltimore finally found the end zone.

The only Ravens touchdown arrived 11 seconds later, when Justice Hill broke free for a 65 yard run. Hill finished with 85 yards on nine carries, the one bright offensive note for the home side. Derrick Henry was held to 57 yards on 17 carries, although his night carried one piece of history, as DAZN reported Henry passed LaDainian Tomlinson for seventh place on the all time NFL rushing yards list during the game.

Four Straight Losses And A Deepening Slide

The numbers behind Baltimore fall are stark. The Ravens have been outscored 84-10 in the second half during their four game losing streak, and they have been outscored 117-43 across the whole slide. A team built to control games late is instead watching them run away after half time, week after week.

The quarterback room explains part of it, but not all of it. Baltimore game plan on Thursday was simple by necessity, run the ball and shorten the game, as NBC Sports noted in its Thursday night recap. Once Jacksonville led by two scores, that plan collapsed, and a rookie quarterback was left chasing a game he was never equipped to chase in those conditions.

The Ravens now await the arrival of veteran Jacoby Brissett as they try to stop the season falling apart completely. At 4-5 and below .500 for the first time this year, Baltimore margin for error in the AFC playoff race is close to gone, and every week without Jackson raises the cost of the losing run.

Jacksonville Keeps Building Its Case

For Jacksonville, this was a professional road win of a specific kind. The Jaguars did not need anything extraordinary, and they did not chase it. They took an early lead, protected their quarterback, leaned on Little steady kicking for four field goals, and let their defence close the game against an overmatched offence.

That restraint is its own statement at 6-2. Jacksonville has now won five of its past six games and leads the AFC South by a clear margin at the halfway point of its schedule. Lawrence efficiency on Thursday, no turnovers and one touchdown against a defence that needed takeaways to survive, showed a quarterback managing a game his team was supposed to win, and winning it exactly that way.

The Jaguars return after a longer break with a trip to Tennessee on November 15. Baltimore, meanwhile, leaves Thursday night with an injury crisis at the most important position in the sport, a four game losing streak, and a defence that has allowed second half collapses to become a pattern rather than an accident.
