Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 42 points, built early and closed late
Oklahoma City led from start to finish and built a lead as big as 25 points in the first half, going up 50-25 midway through the second quarter. Gilgeous-Alexander made 11 of 26 shots, 5 of 11 from three-point range, and 15 of 19 free throws across 35 minutes, with four rebounds beside the eight assists. When Cleveland’s late rally cut into the lead, he answered in sequence: a mid-range jumper to stop the run, assists on back-to-back drives, a fadeaway, a step-back three, and six free throws in the final 41 seconds to close the game.
A short-handed Thunder team leans on its Canadian star
The sweep came with Oklahoma City missing three starters to long-term injuries, a stretch the club has played 3-2 in while improving to 6-2 overall. Gilgeous-Alexander has carried the offence through it, with 16 assists across the two Cleveland games to go with the 85 combined points. For Canadian basketball, the pattern is now familiar: the league’s biggest regular-season stages keep producing a headline with a Hamilton, Ontario guard at the centre of it.
The Thunder visit the Memphis Grizzlies next, on November 7. The final score on Wednesday was Thunder 124, Cavaliers 116.
