Ella Langley Choosin Texas Extends Record

By No Excuse
Share

Ella Langley’s Choosin Texas returned to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 dated October 31, 2026, extending its record to 25 weeks at the top. No song in the chart’s history, which reaches back to August 1958, has spent longer at number one.

Choosin Texas 25 Weeks At Number One

The numbers behind the latest week show a record being extended by endurance rather than by a spike. In the October 16 to 22 tracking period the song drew 20 million official streams in the United States, 58.6 million radio airplay audience impressions and 4,000 sales, rising one place after Taylor Swift’s Patient Zero ended its first three weeks at the summit. Streaming actually rose 1 percent on the week while sales fell 17 percent, and the song does not lead any single component chart right now. It sits at number four on Streaming Songs, holds its number two peak on Radio Songs and falls to number five on Digital Song Sales. The Hot 100 blends all three, and Choosin Texas wins the blend, again.

The record table now reads like a different era. Choosin Texas stands at 25 weeks, ahead of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You at 22 weeks accumulated across holiday seasons, with Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, tied at 19. This is also the song’s seventh separate stay at number one, which extends its record for the most distinct number one runs inside a single release cycle. Only Carey’s holiday standard has returned to the top more often in total, eight times between 2019 and 2025.

A Year Long Climb Back To The Summit

The timeline is the story. Choosin Texas was released on October 17, 2025 as the lead single from Langley’s second album Dandelion, and it debuted on the Hot 100 dated November 1, 2025 at number 39, her highest debut at the time, exactly one year before this week’s chart. It first reached number one in February 2026, and in the months since, nine other songs have taken their turn at the top, including records by Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake and Ariana Grande. Every one of them eventually gave the summit back.

Langley wrote the song with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and Lambert has been discussing its run publicly this week on Amazon Music’s And the Writer Is podcast, explaining why she believes the record keeps connecting. Dandelion arrived April 10, 2026 through SAWGOD and Columbia Records, with Langley, Lambert and producer Ben West as executive producers, and its lead single has now outlasted the album cycle that launched it.

The Country Chart Run Underneath It

The second record is running in parallel. Choosin Texas leads Hot Country Songs for a 46th week, passing A Bar Song (Tipsy) for the second longest reign in that chart’s history, behind only the 50 weeks of Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s Meant To Be. The song has spent 53 weeks on the Hot 100 in total, 43 of them inside the top 10, and it previously tied the Streaming Songs record with 26 weeks at number one on that chart before easing to number four.

There is a Canadian thread in the run as well. Drake’s Solar Eclipse, one of the four songs added to Habibti in its FOMO expansion this October, interpolates Choosin Texas, carrying Langley’s hook into a Toronto hip hop record that debuted in the Hot 100 top five. The longest running number one in Hot 100 history is now also a sample source on a Drake album, which is the kind of cross genre footprint songs of this size tend to leave.

What A 25th Week Actually Means

Records at this altitude are usually built in one of two ways: a holiday perennial that returns every December, or a phenomenon that burns for one long unbroken stretch. Choosin Texas has done neither. It has won the chart seven separate times across nine months, against rotating competition, on the strength of radio weight and steady streaming rather than event weeks. That is a profile the Hot 100 has simply never produced before, and every return visit now moves the all time mark one week further from the field. Ella Langley, 27, holds the record outright, and as of the chart dated October 31, she is still adding to it.
