Drake Views Reaches 520 Weeks

By No Excuse
Share

Drake’s Views reached 520 weeks on the Billboard 200 this week, becoming his third album to spend a full decade on the chart. In the same frame it climbs from No. 43 to No. 36, back inside the top 40 ten years after it first topped the chart, which makes the Drake Views 520 weeks milestone a present-tense story rather than a history note.

Forbes chart reporter Hugh McIntyre, who reported the milestone this morning, put the plain version of it:

“As of this frame, Views reaches 520 weeks on the Billboard 200. That’s a decade as one of the 200 most-consumed albums in the United States.”

Drake Views 520 Weeks Joins Two Earlier Landmarks

Views is the third Drake album to reach the decade mark, and the second to do it in a single month. Nothing Was the Same became his second decade album two weeks ago and now sits at 522 weeks on the chart. Ahead of both is Take Care, his longest-charting album at 687 weeks, a total the Forbes report notes makes it one of the longest-charting albums of all time, and a record iimiTV has already walked through in its Take Care album deep dive. The report’s assessment is that Drake stands alone among all acts in this regard: no other artist holds three albums that have each spent ten years on the Billboard 200.

The depth underneath the milestone is just as unusual. Ten Drake releases currently sit on the Billboard 200 at the same time. Take Care leads them at No. 25, Views follows at No. 36, the PARTYNEXTDOOR collaboration $ome $exy $ongs 4 U sits at No. 51, and Certified Lover Boy, Scorpion, Thank Me Later, For All The Dogs and More Life all hold places further down, while Her Loss, his joint album with 21 Savage, re-enters the chart this week at No. 191. One artist filling ten slots on the flagship albums chart, with three of those albums a decade old or older, is the catalogue picture in a single frame.

The Album That Ruled For 13 Weeks

The longevity starts from an unusually high peak. Views arrived in the spring of 2016 and opened atop the Billboard 200 in May with just over one million equivalent units. It went on to rule the chart for 13 weeks in total, still his longest run at No. 1 by a wide margin: his next longest-running chart-toppers, Certified Lover Boy and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, managed five weeks each, less than half the Views total combined. The album is one of his 14 Billboard 200 number ones, a career count that ties him with Jay-Z for the third most in chart history, behind only The Beatles at 19 and Taylor Swift at 15.

The singles did their share of the carrying. “One Dance,” featuring Wizkid and Kyla, became his first Hot 100 number one as a lead artist and Billboard’s Song of the Summer for 2016, and iimiTV broke the record down in its One Dance lyrics and meaning explainer. “Hotline Bling,” carried on the album as a bonus track after reaching No. 2 on the Hot 100 and earning a diamond certification, supplied the era’s defining visual: the Director X video embedded above, filmed in Toronto, has passed two billion views on YouTube. An album whose two biggest songs are still that present in the culture has a floor under its streaming that most catalogue titles never get.

Why Views Keeps Charting

The Forbes report points at the mechanism honestly. The Billboard 200 counted only sales for most of its history, and now counts streaming activity as well, a change that rewards exactly the kind of catalogue Drake has built: albums listeners keep playing in full, years after release. The genre charts show the same habit this week. In the current frame Views climbs to No. 4 on the Top Rap Albums chart, holds No. 10 on Top R and B/Hip-Hop Albums, and rises eight places to No. 30 on Top Streaming Albums. A 2016 album placing inside the top ten of both genre tallies in 2026 is not nostalgia doing the work. It is weekly listening, measured.

The timing closes the argument neatly. This milestone lands in the same week that Apple Music named Drake its Best Rapper of 2026 for his new albums, a story iimiTV covered on Tuesday. The honour was about the present tense: three new albums in one weekend. The 520 weeks are about the back catalogue compounding quietly underneath it, three albums deep at a decade each. Drake’s Views reaching 520 weeks on the Billboard 200 is the third such landmark in a month for one artist, and on the evidence of this week’s chart, it is not the last one his catalogue has in it.
