Drake Surpasses 350 Million RIAA Units

By No Excuse

Drake became the first artist in music history to surpass 350 million RIAA certified units in the United States on October 23, 2026. The milestone arrived one day before his 40th birthday on October 24, and it extends his record as the most certified artist in RIAA history.

The certification wave was not built on one song. His 2016 album Views reached Diamond status at 10 million equivalent units in the United States, while two singles from different eras, In My Feelings and Marvins Room, also reached Diamond in the same update. With those additions, Drake now holds 18 Diamond certified singles across lead and featured appearances, the most by any artist.

Drake’s album VIEWS is officially RIAA certified Diamond. “In My Feelings” and “Marvins Room” went Diamond too, part of new certifications that cement Drake as the most certified artist in history and the first to surpass 350 million RIAA-certified units.

That summary came from OVO Sound on October 23, and the numbers behind it explain why this milestone is different from a normal chart week. RIAA certifications count eligible sales and streaming activity over time, so a total of this size is a measure of catalogue endurance as much as release week impact. Songs released in 2011, 2016 and 2018 all moved in the same update, which means listeners across three different Drake eras are still driving the record.

Views Joins Take Care In Diamond Territory

Views reaching Diamond puts it beside Take Care, his acclaimed 2011 sophomore album, in the most exclusive album category in American music. Views was released in 2016, during a defining period of his career, and produced records including One Dance, Controlla and Hotline Bling. A decade later, the album is still accumulating the equivalent of full album sales through streaming, which is the clearest sign that the 2016 run never really ended for listeners.

The album’s path also says something about how Drake built his audience. Views was a Toronto framed record, from its cover overlooking the city to its dancehall and Caribbean influences, and it expanded his international audience at the same time. Ten years on, that combination of hometown identity and global reach is still the engine behind his catalogue numbers. A Diamond album framed around Toronto is a Canadian music story as much as an American certification story.

Marvins Room And The Long Tail

The recognition for Marvins Room is particularly notable in this update. Originally released in 2011, the introspective record became one of Drake’s signature songs and helped establish the emotionally candid approach that influenced a generation of hip hop and R and B artists. A slow, confessional song reaching Diamond fifteen years after release is not a viral moment. It is proof that the song entered the permanent listening habits of millions of people.

In My Feelings tells the opposite story from the same catalogue. Released on his 2018 album Scorpion, it became a global phenomenon fuelled by its production, its chart dominance and a viral dance challenge. One Diamond single in this update is a quiet 2011 album cut that grew slowly. The other is a 2018 hit that exploded immediately. Both paths end at 10 million units, and holding both kinds of record in one catalogue is rare.

A Record Year Behind The Milestone

The timing follows a commercially significant year. Drake released three albums in May 2026, Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, and Billboard reported that the May 15 releases debuted at numbers 1, 2 and 3 on the Billboard 200 dated May 30. He became the first artist to occupy all three positions simultaneously in the album chart’s 70 year history, with Iceman leading the group at 463,000 equivalent album units in its opening frame, according to Luminate figures cited by Billboard.

That context matters for reading the RIAA news. The 350 million total is not a legacy award handed to an artist in a quiet period. It landed in the same year as a three album sweep of the Billboard 200, while Iceman continued generating streaming and chart activity through the fall. Catalogue strength and current output are running at the same time, which is the combination that keeps extending the gap between Drake and every other certified artist.

What 350 Million Actually Means

No artist before him had crossed this line, and the structure of the total is the story. It spans mixtape era favourites, Diamond albums, Diamond singles from three decades of listening habits, and featured appearances that add to the count. From Take Care and Nothing Was the Same to Views, Scorpion and the 2026 releases, the catalogue has maintained an extraordinary presence across streaming platforms and radio without a fallow period long enough to slow the certifications down.

Drake turns 40 on October 24 holding one of the most formidable certification records in modern music history. The birthday coverage this week has focused on celebrations in Toronto and New York, but the RIAA update is the durable headline. Parties end. A first ever 350 million unit catalogue, built substantially on records that are still being played daily, is the number the next decade of his career will be measured against.
