Toronto artist DNTE and award winning Canadian producer IM’PERETIV released their collaborative project Soliloquy of a Sociopath on November 2, now available on all major streaming platforms. It closes a rollout that began on December 26, 2025 with the single Chemistry Class, and it gives toronto rappers a full length statement to end the year on.
The project is billed in its release announcement as a dark and cinematic piece of work, and the billing is accurate to the material described. This is a concept driven record about control, contradiction, perception and ambition, built on gritty and unconventional production and theatrical storytelling. Where a lot of Toronto rap right now chases the melodic and the minimal, DNTE and IM’PERETIV have gone the other way, toward density: intricate lyricism over a palette that pulls from rock, jazz, fusion, progressive music, psychedelia and soul.

A dark, cinematic Hip Hop experience.
That is the project own billing from its release announcement, and the singles support it. Each advance record introduced a different room of the same house, and the full project now lets listeners walk through all of them in order.
DNTE Soliloquy of a Sociopath builds from three singles
Chemistry Class, featuring Dallas lyricist Nowaah the Flood, opened the campaign on December 26, 2025. It went on to receive airplay on Hot 97 Real Late and placements on three Spotify editorial playlists: Jazz Rap, Northern Bars and New Hip-Hop. For an independent Toronto release, that is a real traction line, earned through exactly the channels that are hardest for Canadian underground rap to reach: American radio and global editorial at the same time.
Saratoga Springs, featuring L-Biz, followed, and Cadbury added a third angle before the full project arrived. The guest list across the album stays tight: Nowaah the Flood, L-Biz and Wyze Wonda. Three voices, each with a defined role, rather than a long feature list assembled for reach. The result, per the announcement, is a collection of distinct perspectives that unfolds through its own narrative, an immersive listen rather than a playlist of singles.
A direct to fan road to release day
Soliloquy of a Sociopath was originally brought to life through a direct to fan supporter campaign, months of independent development and community support before its worldwide release. That route shapes the record in ways worth naming. A project funded by its own audience does not need to sand down its concept for a playlist meeting. The title alone tells you this one did not: Soliloquy of a Sociopath is a theatre reference worn openly, a single voice speaking its inner logic out loud, and the themes of control and perception run straight from that choice.
DNTE arrives here with momentum of his own. In August he released Diamond Flooded Jesus, a 12 track LP dropped on his birthday, August 18, 2026. Two full projects inside four months is a serious work rate for an independent artist, and the contrast between them is part of the story: a solo LP in the summer, then a producer locked collaboration in the fall.
A palette wider than the usual Toronto template
The production choices deserve their own note. Rock, jazz, fusion, progressive music, psychedelia and soul are not influences underground rap usually stacks in one project, and the announcement leans on that range deliberately: gritty and unconventional production under intricate lyricism and theatrical storytelling. It positions Soliloquy of a Sociopath as a listening record rather than a singles vehicle, the kind of project that asks for a full front to back run before it gives up its shape. In a market that rewards fifteen second moments, a Toronto team choosing the long form on purpose is a statement in itself, and the three single rollout gave that statement a six month runway.
IM’PERETIV holds the producer chair
IM’PERETIV has become one of the busiest connectors in Canadian underground rap. His collaborative run with Vancouver rapper Junk, the Together In Pieces series, just reached its fifth and final chapter, and his production credits keep pairing Canadian MCs with American lyricists in the Nowaah the Flood lane. On Soliloquy of a Sociopath he is not a beat supplier but a co author: one producer across the whole project is what gives the rock, jazz and soul influences a single grammar instead of a collage.
That is also why the project matters beyond its own tracklist. Toronto rap has always had a lyricist wing, and records like this one keep it documented and current. The editorial playlists it touched, Northern Bars among them, exist because this lane keeps producing work worth filing. Soliloquy of a Sociopath is now the lane latest full length proof, out everywhere as of November 2.
