Cardi B Named Billboard Canada’s Global Woman

By No Excuse

Cardi B was named Billboard Canada’s Global Woman of the Year on October 16, 2026, becoming the honour’s first ever recipient.

The announcement was made on Friday, October 16, 2026, for Cardi B Billboard Canada Global Woman of the Year, a newly introduced honour from Billboard Canada. The award will be presented on November 24, 2026 at Rebel in Toronto, at Billboard Canada Women in Music 2026. That event is in its third year.

A First Ever Global Honour, Presented In Toronto

Being the first ever recipient sets the tone for what Billboard Canada wants this honour to mean. It is not an award with a long list of past winners to join. Cardi B is the starting point, and the presentation in Toronto puts a Canadian stage at the centre of a global career moment. The November 24 presentation at Rebel is therefore both a celebration of her work and a statement about Toronto as a place where that work is formally recognised, using Canadian spelling for recognised here to match the Canadian honour.

Her Canadian chart history supports the choice in plain numbers. She has forty six charting songs on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, and eight of them reached the top ten. That is a sustained presence, not a single hit moment.

“I want to be the best I can at anything that I do. There’s hope for your dreams.” Cardi B, per Billboard Canada

That outlook helps explain the broader record behind the honour. She was Billboard’s US Woman of the Year in 2020, the first rapper to win it. She is the first solo woman to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album, with Invasion of Privacy. She holds eleven Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Performance for Outside, from Am I the Drama?, released in September 2025.

The Toronto event will also honour Canadian leaders alongside her. Fellow Toronto honourees at the November 24 event are Live Nation Canada’s Melissa Bubb-Clarke, named Executive of the Year, and Kristy Fletcher of MusiCounts and CARAS, receiving the Impact Award. Doors are at 4:30 p.m. and the show is at 5:30 p.m. Balcony tickets are 215.02 dollars and an eight seat dinner table is 5,000 dollars, as listed for the event.

Touring Numbers And Canadian Stops

Touring is the other half of the case, and the numbers are large. Her Little Miss Drama Tour ranked number seven worldwide on Pollstar’s midyear report, with a 72.1 million dollar gross. At the halfway mark she had sold 209,622 tickets across seventeen shows for more than 32 million dollars. Those figures show scale, but the Canadian stops give the Toronto honour a local history to build on.

Canadian stops on the tour included Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on March 30, and TD Coliseum in Hamilton. In Hamilton, she was the first female headliner at that venue and drew the highest grossing hip hop show in that venue’s history. That detail matters for a Billboard Canada honour. It is not only that she toured Canada. She set a record in a Canadian room, as its first female headliner, which connects the global story directly to Canadian venues and Canadian audiences.

For Toronto readers, the March 30 date at Scotiabank Arena and the return to Toronto on November 24 for Rebel create a clear arc through the year. First came a major arena show in the city. Then came the announcement in October, the certifications that followed, and a November presentation in the same city where part of that touring history was made. The honour lands as a continuation, not as a first introduction.

Nine New Canadian Certifications

On October 19, 2026, Music Canada certifications via Atlantic Records added nine new Canadian certifications for Cardi B, and they landed five weeks before the November 24 Toronto honour. The list is its own catalogue summary. Up was certified five times Platinum, for 400,000 units in Canada. Money was also certified five times Platinum. Bartier Cardi was certified four times Platinum, Be Careful was certified three times Platinum, and the album Am I the Drama? was certified three times Platinum.

The remaining certifications complete the set of nine. Ring, featuring Kehlani, was certified two times Platinum. Bongos, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, was certified Platinum. Enough was certified Gold, and Outside was certified Gold. Outside carries added weight in this list because it is also the song nominated for Best Rap Performance among her eleven Grammy nominations, linking a current nomination, a Canadian Gold certification and the album Am I the Drama? in a single thread.

Taken together, the certifications explain why the timing feels so concentrated. In one week in October, Cardi B received a first ever Billboard Canada global honour announcement, followed by nine Canadian certifications dated October 19, 2026. Five weeks later, the honour will be presented in Toronto. Chart history, touring records, awards history and new Canadian certifications all point in the same direction, toward an artist whose work has travelled globally and landed measurably in Canada.
